A Coffee Table Mags pick for those who follow design to its source — where the thinking behind the object matters as much as the object itself.

Style and inspiration for contemporary tribes

Creating this issue ahead of the Salone del Mobile and its Milan Design Week means immersing oneself completely in design. Observing those who create it, questioning what drives them: the role of beauty, the gesture, precision—and the resulting projects.

Our cover featuring Philippe Malouin makes a statement: that of a design that combines sensitivity and intelligence, intuition and a connection to its time. It reminds us that the designer's hand is attentive and meticulous. In his hands, a moka pot for Alessi or a table lamp for Flos become a testing ground and a promise of durability. In his workshop of precision, he shapes pieces designed and conceived down to the smallest detail, destined to last, while remaining quietly poetic.

Other reflections emerge. In Rome, the creations of Emanuele Pantanella Design are reborn thanks to his family and artistic director Claudia d’Oncieu. Reissuing these pieces means questioning heritage: how to revive a creation without betraying the hand of the deceased artist? This question lies at the heart of the reissues offered by design professionals.

New approaches are also emerging. For Knoll, the artist Dozie Kanu is developing a hybrid language, blending Nigerian and Texas influences, fringes and leather, creating something both intimate and universal. Like Michael Bargo, Robert Wright, and Zofia Wyganowska Studio, he demonstrates how design becomes narrative: a self-presentation, an assemblage of cultures and memories that transforms domestic space into a territory of expression.

All will be present in Milan, at the Salone del Mobile or as part of Milan Design Week, to unveil a project.

Whether minimalist or exuberant, conceptual or narrative, design, as we see, remains a human gesture—precise, fragile, essential—that shapes our way of inhabiting the world, one object at a time.
