Editorial:

It’s time to travel again. But only with hand luggage, of course, should you happen to want to keep your beloved suitcase and what’s inside. Airport chaos these days comes in parallel with the success of Apple’s Airtags: They keep you at least updated with your lost items, in this “Still-Not-Post-but-Less-Pandemic Era.” The sunny side of being on the road, on the rails, or up in the air is the pleasure of seeing new places and long-missed ones, meeting old friends and making new ones. And this too rings true for the annual International Issue of ZEITmagazin.

We travelled to London and Paris, Beirut and New York, Nigeria, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands to cover stories, from pop culture to politics, from fashion to literature. American-born Executive Editor April von Stauffenberg tells us all about re-routing from her chosen home of Berlin to her husband’s glorified homestead in Bavaria in her new column.

With the International Issue hitting the newsstands, we’ll celebrate the launch this October in Paris together with artist Ugo Rondinone in the beautiful Petit Palais and in Amsterdam with our friends from Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum, one of the leading magazine stores of the world. After all these years, we’re still in a “Berlin State Of Mind” though: our launch party at the new venue Pop Kudamm at the end of September is something we look forward to.

This year, our mothership DIE ZEIT celebrates its highest circulation in its history, with 612,900 copies beings old each week. You’ll find a “making of” conversation with ZEITmagazin’s Editor Sascha Chaimowicz. Despite all the global crises, we’re flying high, at least metaphorically, into the future.
